About Off the Couch

A kinder world begins with better conversations.

Psychology for everyday life, real relationships and the world around us.

Meet Zaib Un Nisa

Psychology belongs in everyday life.

I’m Zaib — a clinical psychologist, writer and lifelong student of people. I created Off the Couch to explore psychology beyond the therapy room: in everyday life, relationships, workplaces, families, culture and the world around us.

Here, you’ll find evidence-informed insights, thoughtful perspectives and honest conversations about the things that shape our mental health.

What guides the work

A thoughtful, human approach to psychology.

Useful ideas need good evidence, clear context and room for the complexity of real life.

Evidence-informed

Psychological ideas shared with care, context and attention to what research can tell us.

Real-world relevance

Connections to the relationships, families, workplaces and cultures that shape daily life.

Compassionate perspective

Curiosity and care, without reducing people or their experiences to labels.

A wider view

Thoughtful conversations about the people and systems around us, as well as our inner lives.

Beyond the therapy room

More awareness. A kinder world.

Off the Couch is a space for making psychological ideas useful outside the consulting room — with enough evidence, context and humanity to help people think more clearly about themselves and one another.

The goal is not to turn every difficulty into a diagnosis. It is to encourage better questions, more informed conversations and a more compassionate understanding of human behaviour.

  • Clear, accessible psychology
  • Honest, thoughtful conversations
  • Room for nuance and lived experience
